Africa-Press – Kenya. Gatanga MP Edward Muriu has urged Kenyans to give the Kenya Kwanza government a chance to solve issues it inherited from previous regimes. The MP said the government is putting in place mitigating efforts that will help President Ruto’s administration to fulfil promises that were made to Kenyans during the electioneering period.
“We have reorganized the government to ensure what made Kenya Kwanza government be elected, the promises we made to the people has been realized,” Muriu said on Citizen TV on Monday.
“We have ensured that we have started mitigating in terms of production. We have said that we cannot continue subsiding consumption. We want to subsidise production because by doing that you create employment. There is what we call a multiplier effect in terms of subsidising production.”
Muriu said Parliament is actively looking into the supplementary budget to drive the government forward till the beginning of the next fiscal year. “They’ll be very busy in Parliament to relook and find out what are the mitigating factors that we can be able to put in place to ensure that the government departments and ministries are given enough funding to ensure we’re able to mitigate that element,” he said.
He also lauded the Azimio coalition for the times it has played its oversight role and encouraged them to continue keeping the Kenya Kwanza government in check.
“This opposition kept quiet for five years from 2017-2022 and things went south. When they are making noise the common person in Kenya benefits. That’s why we’re saying keep on making that noise. Where we do wrong please point it out,” Muriu said.
