Africa-Press – Kenya. Nakuru Governor Susan Susan Kihika has unveiled a 10-member list of County Executive Committee members who will play a critical role in her administration.
Kihika, who is the first female governor of Nakuru County, took over from Lee Kinyanjui to become the third Governor of the South Rift county.
The position had attracted 478 applicants with a select committee submitting 10 names of men and women who will help the governor to execute her mandate.
Among those nominated include, Dr Nelson Tanui Maara (Water and environment), Dr Samuel Mwangi Mwaura (Health), Stephen Muiruri Kuria (Trade and Tourism), John Karanja Kihagi,(Lands, physical planning, Housing and Urban Development), Leonard Kipkoech Bor (Agriculture, Fisheries and Co-op era tubes), Roselyn Wanjiru Mungai, HSC (Public Service Management), Josephine Atieno Achieng (Sports, Gender and Social services).
Others are Zipporah Wambui who will head the Education, Youth and ICT docket, Stephen Iribe Njogu for Finance and economic planning as well as Michael Kamau Karanja who will head the Infrastructure docket.
The names now await vetting and approval by the county assembly of Nakuru.
In her first address to the County Assembly on Wednesday, October 12, the governor urged the MCAs to work closely with her administration towards service delivery.
She challenged them to forget their political affiliation and work for the people, as she highlighted her key agenda for the County.
Nakuru County is among the highest contributors to national wealth (GDP). It is the third after Nairobi and Kiambu.
