Governor Lusaka seeks to decongest public hospitals

Africa-Press – Kenya. Bungoma Governor Kenneth Lusaka has said private-public partnership will help decongest public hospitals and achieve universal health coverage.

Speaking during a meeting with Amref Health Africa officials on Wednesday, Lusaka said such partnerships will boost primary healthcare starting from the grassroots.

The governor assured Amref of his commitment towards engaging them in a partnership programme that will work as a model for emulation by other counties and countries in Africa.

The partnership seeks to strengthen primary care through a holistic approach that will enhance the quality of healthcare services across all 45 wards in Bungoma county.

The model was piloted in Makueni in 2018. Bungoma is the third county, after Makueni and Migori, that Amref is engaging with the goal of scaling up the initiative.
