Africa-Press – Kenya. Three people were injured Monday when a helicopter assigned to support Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) logistics crashed at the Wajir International Airport while taking off.

One of the victims was seriously injured while the two escaped with minor injuries, the police said. Among the injured was Arbajahan Ward MCA Abey Jimaale who sustained head injuries.

A brief statement indicated that the aircraft, registered as 5Y SDL, a type/AS35O helicopter, crash landed at Taxiway A. The chopper was headed to Arbajahan in Wajir West sub-county.

The scene was visited officials from the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA), Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) and the police service. It was documented by scenes of crime personnel and cordoned off awaiting further processing by air accident investigators.

The aircraft was extensively damaged. In a separate incident, a KDF helicopter crashed in Wajir North after delivering relief supplies. There was no immediate comment from KDF.
