Africa-Press – Kenya. MPs have approved the nomination of Antony Mwaniki as the chairperson of the Public Service Commission.

The position was left vacant following the death of the former chairperson Stephen Kirogo after a short illness in April.

National Assembly’s Security Committee chaired by Peter Mwathi approved Amb. Mwaniki as replacement to the late Stephen Kirogo.

Also approved were Caroline Naikena Letupuru and Thomas Okoth who were nominated by President Uhuru Kenyatta to serve as members of the National Gender and Equity Commission (NGEC).

The duo was being vetted by the Labour and Social committee chaired by Mwea MP Josphat Kabinga.

The House is expected to debate the committees’ report later in the day to either uphold or reject the verdict.

If approved, the names will be taken to the President for formal appointment.
