Africa-Press – Kenya. National Assembly deputy speaker Gladys Boss Shollei has given an account of how she was saved by a cop from being arrested during the Bomas saga in August, just hours before IEBC Chair Wafula Chebukati declared the presidential results.
In an interview with Citizen TV, Shollei said things had begun changing three days before the announcement of the final results.
“I remember a police officer whom I do not even know his name walked to me and told me, ‘please do not leave this building, if you do they will arrest you and you will not be taken to the police station’,” she said.
She said she sensed some foul play and decided she will not leave the building at any cost until things clear up.
“And that is why I made the decision to stay in Bomas.”
She recalled two people tried to persuade her to get out of Bomas saying she was being called Cabinet Secretary for Roads and Transport Kipchumba Murkomen, who was then Elgeyo MaraKwet Senator-elect.
“I remember someone walked to me and told me, Hon. Murkomen is looking for you, he is outside but I did not go, then another person came and told me the same thing but still I did not go,” she said.
“Someone asked me why I was not going and I said that does not make sense, Murkomen is not calling me, he has my phone number so if he wanted to see me he would walk in the building.”
She said as she concluded that someone was obviously trying to lure her out of Bomas to fall into their trap.
