With National Social Security Fund (NSSF) deductions eating into monthly payslips, millions of Kenyan workers are increasingly keen to track exactly how much is being remitted in their names and whether it is reaching the fund at all.

NSSF allows members to check their individual statements and contribution history directly on their phones, eliminating the need for physical visits to its offices or long queues.

Members can leverage channels, including USSD *303# and the WhatsApp chatbot on 0704 303 303, to access their statements as well as access other NSSF services.

To use the USSD to check your financial Statements, dial *303# once. This will bring up a welcome menu with options for ‘Member Service’ (option 1), ‘Partnerships’ (option 2), ‘Tenants Purchase Scheme’ (option 3), ‘Validate Compliance Certificate’ (option 4), and ‘Check Your NSSF Number’ (option 5).

Click option one, ‘Member Services’, then insert your ID number, and after that, proceed to input your PIN. On the next menu, you have four options: My Account Information, Contribution Information, Payments, and Benefit Inquiry.

Click option 2, ‘Contribution Information’, where you can access the provisional contribution summary as well as contribution statements.

Other services offered through the USSD code include checking your NSSF number, validating a compliance certificate, the Tenant purchase scheme, contribution information, payments, and benefit enquiries, among others.

For the NSSF WhatsApp chatbot, members should initiate a conversation by saying “Hi”, after which they can access the same services offered by the USSD code. The process of accessing the statement through this platform is similar to that of USSD.

Kenyans can also request a full copy of their financial statements by sending an email to [email protected].

Kenyans can also check NSSF annual financial statements by regularly checking the NSSF website, where these statements are updated from time to time.

Social media users on X raised concerns, claiming that the fund didn’t have convenient channels for members to track financial statements and ongoing investment projects. However, the fund dismissed these claims and affirmed that its digital platforms are fully operational.

“Members can check their NSSF statements through several convenient channels without visiting our offices: dial *303# on your mobile phone, use our WhatsApp chatbot on 0704 303 303, or send an email to [email protected] to request a full copy of your statement,” NSSF assured on Thursday, January 29.

Just last week, NSSF revealed that members’ contributions totalled to Ksh83.97 billion until June 2025, accounting for a 35 per cent increase, up from Ksh 62.29 billion the previous year.

In a gazette notice dated January 23, the fund attributes the growth to the 8 per cent increase in active members, reaching 3.6 million contributors, up from 3.3 million registered the year before.

As of June 2025, the fund’s total member fund increased from Ksh400 billion the previous year to Ksh572 billion, marking a 43 per cent increase.

Furthermore, investments also grew by 43 per cent to Ksh558 billion in 2025, up from Ksh389 billion in 2024, according to NSSF.

President William Ruto’s administration has set a target of Ksh1 trillion in assets for NSSF by 2027.
