Africa-Press – Kenya. Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has affirmed that he is fully focused on executing his constitutional mandate while supporting President William Ruto in securing a second term in the upcoming General Election.
Speaking on Sunday in Kariene town, Central Imenti Constituency, Meru County, the Deputy President dismissed speculation about his political future, stating that he remains committed to delivering on the government’s development agenda.
“I am the Deputy President. This seat is going nowhere, and when we are done with the second term, we will progress ahead in search of the higher office,” he said.
Kindiki made the remarks after attending the Induction and Installation Service of Bishop Doreen Mwathe as Bishop of Abothuguchi Synod of the Methodist Church of Kenya in Kirigara, Central Imenti.
The Deputy President described himself as a seasoned politician who understands when to engage in politics and when to focus on service delivery.
“As a veteran politician, we know when to talk, when to do politics and when to work for the people. We will not engage in idle talk every day because we have a lot to do for the people,” he noted.
He emphasized that his current priority is to accelerate development projects and ensure the completion of ongoing initiatives to improve the lives of wananchi.
“It is about what you have done for the people because, in the end, it will be what you delivered to them,” he added.
Kindiki highlighted several key projects underway in Meru County that are scheduled for completion before the next elections including multiple road projects recently launched and progressing on schedule.
He said the upgrading of Meru Referral Hospital to Level 6 status is on course, while the redesign of Nithi Bridge will commence soon. The construction of Gakoromone Modern Market in Meru town is also ongoing and is expected to become the largest market in the country upon completion.
Additionally, Mariene University in Central Imenti has been earmarked for completion.
On the economy, the Deputy President said the government’s key economic policies are beginning to bear fruit, citing reduced fuel prices and improved macroeconomic indicators as signs of economic recovery.
“Petrol prices have come down by four shillings. The prices have been reducing since 2022 because of the interventions by the President,” he stated.
Kindiki was accompanied by Meru Governor Mutuma M’ithingia, Deputy Governor Linda Kiome, Central Imenti MP Kirima Ngucine, Tigania East MP Mpuru Aburi, County Assembly Speaker Ayub Bundi, MCAs, and other local leaders.
On Saturday, during an inspection tour of the Ichagaki–Gikomora–Ngaburi Road in Maragua, Kindiki assured residents of the Mount Kenya region that the Ruto Administration will fulfill all its development commitments in the area, just as it is doing in other regions across the country.
He said the interests of the region are well safeguarded under President Ruto’s leadership.
Maragua MP Mary Wamaua and Nominated MP Sabina Chege, who accompanied him during the tour, praised him as a steady and dependable Principal Assistant to the President, dismissing critics laying claim to the office ahead of the next General Election.
Kindiki’s recent tours across Meru, Murang’a, Nyeri, Embu and other Mt Kenya counties are widely seen as part of efforts to consolidate support for President William Ruto in the vote-rich region ahead of the 2027 polls.
Since becoming Deputy President, Kithure Kindiki has intensified development inspection tours, commissioning roads, markets and housing projects while engaging local leaders and clergy.
His frequent visits are viewed as a strategy to reassure the region of its place in government and maintain political unity as the next election approaches.
