Africa-Press – Kenya. Samburu West MP Naisula Lesuuda has asked President William Ruto and his deputy Rigathi Gachagua to expeditiously tame the runaway insecurity in her constituency.
In a statement, the MP cried out that she is tired of burying her people who he claimed were killed by bandits from the neighbouring constituency.
According to the MP, at least one to two people are killed every two weeks by bandits who she believes come from the Tiaty constituency.
“I am tired of burying Samburu West Constituents due to banditry. The one, two lives lost almost every fortnight don’t make to the news or seem to matter until the numbers are 2 digit,” she tweeted and tagged Ruto and Gachagua in the post.
Her comment comes at a time when the government has pledged to deal with banditry activities in the Rift Valley region and across the country at large.
Lesuuda, who was elected on a Kanu party ticket, said it is time for action since enough has been said about taming the vice.
“If their leaders can’t reach them surely the government can reach all criminals. Action and less talk. @rigathi @WilliamsRuto This can’t be a half day’s talk or hard talk. It will be a long process to break many decade’s of impunity. It will take bold action ignoring us leaders,” she further said.
She added:
“As a peace ambassador and MP Samburu West I am consistent on peace and the enablers that ensure that my constituents live in peace with their neighbors and focus on development. I still insist on a wholistic and deliberate effort to end this madness loss of lives in the North.”
DP Gachagua had pledged to ensure bandits are completely flushed out in the Rift Valley region.
Already a multi agency team has been deployed in Turkana where 11 people including 8 police officers wee shot dead by bandits.
