Africa-Press – Kenya. Barbara Magoha has responded to social media users who criticised her for dancing while mourning her late husband George Magoha. Barbara had on Wednesday, received the body of her late husband at their Nairobi Lavington home while dancing to Nigerian tunes.

Nigerian culture was on display, as she dressed in her traditional regalia. However, speaking in Gem, Siaya, Barbara said she mourned her husband the best way she knew how.

“My husband died aged 71 years, he has lived his life, I was celebrating a life well lived, that’s how we do it in Nigeria,” she said. She also urged the residents of Gem to mourn in a classy fashion as the family is huge and cannot accommodate the whole village during burial.

“We know you are also mourning, we ask you to give the immediate family members time to also mourn, do so in a classy fashion,” she added. She also apologised to mourners over Friday’s stone-throwing incident at her home.

“In Luo tradition, a wife has to open the gate for the mourners, but because they were impatient, it got rowdy, I’d like to apologise for the incident,” she said.

President William Ruto’s message of condolences was read by ICT CS Eliud Owalo. Retired President Uhuru Kenyatta, ODM Leader Raila Odinga, Magoha’s Cabinet Colleagues were also present during the mass. Magoha died on January 24, leaving a son, Micheal Magoha and wife Barbara Magoha.
