Africa-Press – Kenya. President William Ruto has assured Kenyans that he will work with all leaders for the sake of Kenya’s prosperity. Speaking in Embu, Ruto said that Kenyans deserve leaders who put aside political differences and work to deliver services effectively.

” Nawahakikishia ya kwanza nitafanya kazi na hawa viongoizi wote, kupeleka Kenya mbele. This translates to: I want to assure you that I will work with all leaders in order to move Kenyan forward.

Last month while in Isiolo, President William Ruto stated that the time is ripe for the government to close ranks with the opposition. He emphasized that Kenya is one and should have only one government to deliver to its citizens.

“It’s time for us to close ranks, to work together for the good of our country,” Ruto said.

“There is no country for the government only and another one for the opposition. The government I’m leading is for all Kenyans,” he added.

However, Key opposition leaders including Azimio boss Raila Odinga have skipped this year’s Madaraka Day national celebrations at Moi Stadium Embu. This is however not the first time the opposition leaders have skipped such a key event.

During Ruto’s first national day fete on October 20, 2022 to mark Mashujaa Day, Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka was the only opposition leader who attended the celebrations held at Uhuru Gardens, Nairobi.

Days to the celebrations, Raila had left the country on October 16, 2022, and headed to India. Raila also skipped the Jamhuri Day fete on December 12, 2022, after jetting out of the country to the United States.

President William Ruto will lead the nation in marking the 60th Madarka Day. This is Ruto’s third time that he will be leading the country in marking National Day celebrations since he took office as President on September 13, 2022.
