Africa-Press – Kenya. Azimio flagbearer Raila Odinga on Friday revealed that he will retain the Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i if elected president.

Addressing a rally in Nyamira, Raila said Matiang’i has continuously worked hard and delivered on his job despite opposition.

“I am here with my son, Fred Matiang’i, we have come from very far with him. Because of the good job that he does, he is facing opposition from other people we know but he is under my protection. After the August polls we shall continue working together,” he said.

Raila also drummed up support for his presidential bid.

He said his government is well prepared to tackle various issues affecting Kenyans even as he explained the details of his manifesto.

“We are going to ensure that every county has an industry that will produce valued-added products based on raw products available. This will create jobs fo our youths,” Raila said in a rally held at Ekerenyo, North Mugirango constituency.

The opposition chief also reiterated his pledge to better the lives of single mothers if elected president.

He said many of such women have suffered for years adding his social protection program will take care of their needs.

Also present at the rally were, CS Matiang’i, Azimio presidential running mate Martha Karua, Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, and Azimio spokesperson Junet Mohamed among many others.

Raila used the rally to urge residents to vote for only Azimio candidates in the August 9, polls.

He steered clear from endorsing ODM candidates only, a move that seemingly aimed at avoiding infighting in the coalition.
