Africa-Press – Kenya. Mumias East MP Peter Salasya has said he would rather go broke so long as his constituents get Christmas gifts. Salasya who took to Twitter on Monday said he will deliver the Christmas gifts to his constituents on Friday, December 23.

The lawmaker said the gifts will be worth Sh 1000, 000. “After delivering my offer to youths as their MP to watch the World Cup,I will be giving out Christmas gifts to Mumias East residents on December 23 worth Sh1000,000,” Salasya said.

The legislator added that he is also planning a tournament on New Year for his constituents. Adding that the tournament will be worth Sh1.5 million. “Remember I am also running a tournament worth Sh1.5 million on 1st. I better remain broke but I must put them first,” Salasya said.

Elsewhere, Governor Johnson Sakaja brought early Christmas gifts to the Nairobi residents on Sunday. Sakaja lit the Governor’s Christmas tree and gave food to 40 children’s and elderly person’s homes for the festive season.

Additionally, Sakaja gave relief to patients held in county hospitals over failure to pay their bills by ordering their discharge. “I have directed that all persons detained at our county hospitals because of non-payment to be released and go home to be with their families. Merry Christmas,” Sakaja said.
