Africa-Press – Kenya. Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has moved to debunk several fake job adverts that have been making rounds online, promising unsuspecting job seekers positions within the commission through dubious application portals.

Kenyans seeking employment opportunities have been warned to avoid falling prey to the job advertisements circulating on social media, purporting to be from the IEBC.

IEBC has identified at least four variations of the fake advertisements, all claiming that the commission has opened recruitment portals for various vacancies across the country, seeking qualified candidates.

The fraudulent adverts follow a similar pattern, stating that the IEBC is recruiting new staff for various positions and urging interested candidates to click on suspicious links to begin their applications.

One of the debunked ads specifically targeted polling personnel and assistants, while others generically mentioned vacancies nationwide without providing details about the positions or requirements.

“Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission has opened an application portal to recruit new staff and fill various vacancies,” stated one of the fake job adverts.

The fraudulent job adverts include links prompting applicants to complete forms and submit applications, claiming that only shortlisted candidates will be contacted later through email.

“Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission is seeking qualified and experienced candidates for positions throughout the country. Click the application link below to begin,” stated one of the fake job adverts.

The commission has cautioned Kenyans to be vigilant and verify any employment opportunities claiming to originate from IEBC before sharing personal information or clicking on unverified links that could compromise security.

IEBC clarified that its official jobs portal is jobs.iebc.or.ke and urged job seekers to use only this platform when applying for genuine positions advertised by the electoral body.

The electoral body further directed Kenyans to visit its official website for accurate and up-to-date information on recruitment exercises, commission activities, and announcements.

IEBC also pointed job seekers to its verified social media platforms under the handle @IEBCKenya, where the commission shares all official announcements and communications with the public.
