Irate coach Akhulia tears into squad after Bandari loss

Africa-PressKenya. Bidco United head coach Anthony Akhulia has described his charges as slow learners after they committed two similar grave errors to gift their opponents easy goals at Thika Stadium on Friday.

Bidco, who are in their second season in the top tier, failed to capitalise on home advantage as they haplessly crushed 3-2 to the visiting coastal side, Bandari.

And as soon as the centre referee blew the full-time whistle, a visibly agitated Akhulia savagely tore into his squad, blaming them for the costly juvenile errors.

“The outcome wasn’t good at all. We expected some better results which were not forthcoming. I wasn’t impressed at all with how we played today. They got two of their goals in the same manner from set pieces. That means we are slow learners because it doesn’t make any sense being punished from the same mistake twice,” said Akhulia.

Akhulia, however, tipped his squad to bounce back from the mishap in their next fixture. “We must go back to the drawing board to identify our mistakes and work on them before our next match,” he added.

As Akhulia bit his fingers in anguish following the debacle, his opposite number Casa Mbungo enumerated his gains after collecting his second consecutive win of the season.

Mbungo was, however, quick to chide his charges for resting on their laurels in the course of the game, thus twice giving their opponents enough room to get back into the match.

“I thank God for the victory. We played against a very good team who posed a big challenge but we made sure we created chances and utilised them. However, at one point towards the end of the match, we allowed them to pile a lot of pressure on us which eventually resulted in the two goals they scored in quick succession,” said Mbungo.

“All in all I’m quite happy we managed to collect maximum points which now take our tally to six this season given we also won our first match,” he added.

“That notwithstanding, we still got some work to do if we expect to maintain the good run. I’d like to tell my colleague not to give up despite their loss. If they don’t win today then they may win tomorrow,” Mbungo concluded.

Felly Mulumba, William Wadri and Chacha Mwita were all on target for the dockers while Bidco got their goals through Jacob Onyango and David Orem.

Elsewhere, Posta Rangers made light work of newbies Vihiga Bullets whom they thrashed 4-0 in the second match of the day at the same venue.
