It hasn't been easy for me, family - Kindiki opens up on CS role

Africa-Press – Kenya. Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki has given an account of how he had to adjust his schedule after being appointed to the cabinet.

Speaking in an interview with Citizen TV, the CS said the job has been taking most of his time leaving her with less time for the family.

“Every day at 3:30 am I must be up so that I can start getting security briefs at 4 am. I can’t go to bed if it’s not after 10 pm. It has not been easy on me, my wife and my children but they are taking it in stride.”

He said they are however coping well with the situation as they are proud of the assignment and position he has.

“My family is coping with it and it’s not easy for all of us. It has not been easy for me and my wife and children but they have it in stride, they are fully in support of this assignment,” he said.

Kindiki said he tries to steal a few minutes every day to talk to them as the family is still important at the end of the day.

“Seeing them now is much less but I’m trying to make at least every day to have at least 10,15 minutes to at least have a chat so that we can balance the family responsibilities with this important role.”

CS Kindiki further said despite the docket being challenging, he has positively embraced the responsibility and he has had “the best moments of his life” since taking office.

“I say this is my best moment because of all the assignments I have taken, this is the most challenging but I’m coping up.”
