KCB host Homeboyz as Kenya Cup enters third week

Africa-Press – Kenya. KCB entertain Homeboyz at the Lion’s Den in Ruaraka as the Kenya Cup enters week three at various grounds across the country. Both sides are unbeaten having won two of their opening matches with the bankers thrashing Quins 38-0 and then humiliating Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology 41-0.

On their part, Homeboyz under new tactician Oscar Okaron, edged Mwamba 19-13 before registering a 22-15 win over last year’s semifinalists Strathmore Leos 22-15. The bankers have named an unchanged side for the encounter against the Deejays and vice-captain Darwin Mukidza said he expects a competitive match.

“Homeboyz have been playing well. They have won their two opening matches and will pose a threat to us. However, we have made tweaks to the play and we are going all out for the win,” said Mukidza.

KCB tactician Curtis Olago will rely on Curtis Lilako, Emmanuel Silungi, Elvis Olukusi and Martin Owilah in the forwards with Samuel Asati, Esau Otieno and Elphas Adunga the pick of the backs.

Homeboyz coach Oscar Okaron has termed the encounter as the biggest test of the early season. ” It will be a tough test. They are a championship-winning side but my boys are ready for the challenge. It won’t be easy but we will give it our best shot,” added Okaron.

The Deejays will rely on skipper Roy Wesonga, Stanely Isogol and Jospeh Amalemba in the forward pack with Mohammed Omollo, Bush Mwale and Zedden Marrow the star men in the backs. In other fixtures, champions Kabras welcome Quins to the Kakamega showground as they seek to continue with their unbeaten start to the season.

Head coach Carlos Katywa has made two changes with Kenya Simbas international Eugene Sifuna starting as a hooker and Kenya Under 20 skipper John Baraka coming to the second row for the clash.

Table toppers Menengai Oilers host Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology( MMUST) at the Nakuru Showground as Mwamba face Blak Blad at home. Catholic Monks entertain Mean Machine in a varsity derby while Nakuru has a date with Strathmore Leos
