Africa-PressKenya. Kenya on Friday recorded 787 new cases of Covid-19, bringing the country’s case load to 195,898, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe has said.

The CS in a statement confirmed that this was from a sample size of 6,892 recording a positivity rate of 11.4 per cent.

The cumulative tests stand at 2,081,502.

The country’s fatalities have risen to 3,838 after another 12 patients succumbed to the disease.

Kagwe said that there are 1,259 patients currently admitted in various hospitals across the country. Another, 3,758 patients are on the home-based care programme.

A total of 158 patients are in ICU, out of which 33 are on ventilatory support.

Also, 373 patients are separately on supplementary oxygen, out of which 337 are in general wards and 36 in the HDU.

Meanwhile, 424 patients have recovered from the disease out of which 293 were from the Homebased care program while 131 were discharged from various health facilities.

Kenya’s recoveries now stand at 184,885.

As of yesterday, a total of 1,661,560 vaccines had been administered across the country, out of which 1,044,638 received their first doses while second doses are 616,922.

The uptake of the second dose among those who received their first dose is at 59.1 per cent with the majority being males at 55 per cent while females are at 45 per cent.

The proportion of adults fully vaccinated is 2.3 per cent.
