Africa-PressKenya. Kenya has recorded 735 new Covid-19 cases, from a sample size of 5,758 tested in the last 24 hours with a positivity rate of 12 per cent.

Of the cases, 634 are Kenyans while 101 are foreigners. 429 are males and 306 are females. The youngest is an eight-months-old baby while the oldest is 97 years old.

In a statement on Saturday, May 1, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe stated that the total number of confirmed cases stands at 160,053 and the cumulative tests so far are 1,675,310.

224 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours, 177 from home-based care, and 47 from various health facilities.

Total recoveries now stand at 108,789 out of which 79,234 are from home-based care and isolation, while 29,555 are from various health facilities.

Unfortunately, 20 deaths patients have succumbed. 3 of them occurred in the last 24 hours, 13 on diverse dates within the last one month and 4 are late death reports from facility record audits.

The cumulative deaths so far are at 2,744.

A total of 1,304 patients are currently admitted to various health facilities countrywide, while 6,648 patients are on Home-based isolation and care.

88 patients are in the intensive care unit (ICU), 31 of whom are on ventilatory support and 113 on supplemental oxygen. 44 patients are on observation.

Another 137 patients are separately on supplemental oxygen with 130 of them in general wards and 7 in the High Dependency Units (HDU).

As of today, a total of 884,858 persons have been vaccinated against the Covid-19 disease countrywide. Of these 515,288 are aged 58 years and above, Health workers 157,967, teachers 137,348 while Security officers 74,272.
