Africa-PressKenya. Kenya has recorded 223 more Covid-19 positive cases in the last 24 hours as the country’s total caseload rises to 99,082.

Unfortunately, two patients have succumbed to the disease bringing the cumulative fatalities to 1,728.

In a statement on Saturday, January 16, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe announced that 7,748 samples had been tested over the period. The country has so far conducted 1,121,946 Covid-19 tests.

Of the positive cases, 156 are male and 67 are female. The youngest is a seven-year-old child while the oldest is 90.

129 patients have recovered from the disease, 115 being from the Home-Based Care Program, while 14 have been discharged from various hospitals. The total recoveries now stand at 82,324.

Currently, there are 686 patients admitted in various health facilities countrywide and 1,649 on Home Based Isolation and Care.

29 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 14 of whom are on ventilatory support, and 12 on supplemental oxygen. Three are on observation.

Another 13 patients are separately on supplementary oxygen with 12 of them in the general wards.

There is one patient in the High Dependency Unit (HDU).

The distribution of the cases by counties is as follows; Nairobi 127, Migori 19, Mombasa 10, Kiambu 9, Meru 9, Kajiado 8, Kilifi 6, Busia 5, Murang’a 5, Kericho 4, Nakuru 4, Machakos 3 and Uasin Gishu 3.

Kisii and Turkana recorded two cases each while Garissa, Kakamega, Kitui, Kwale, Laikipia, Makueni and Taita Taveta had one case each.
