Africa-Press – Kenya. Kenyatta University Pirates’ star player Dolph Otieno remains doubtful for the team’s two Kenya National Basketball League fixtures at Nyayo National Stadium gymnasium this weekend.

KU tactician Caleb Osewe yesterday said his top scorer will have to get a clean bill of health from the team doctor before he can engage him.

“We are prepared for both games and we expect positive results this weekend. The boys have trained well except Dolph who is doubtful after suffering an injury during our match against Zetech University two weeks ago,” offered Osewe.

KU have tough assignments against former national champions Ulinzi Warriors on Saturday and the University of Nairobi ‘Terrorists’ on Sunday.

The other game of the day will see Zetech University Sparks take on Africa Nazarene University (ANU) Panthers in the women’s fixture.

Sparks’ coach Maurice Obilo said they have trained well with everyone in practice. ANU is a better team and they will take them seriously. After suffering a humiliating 83-25 defeat at the hands of Sparks, KU Oryx play Eagle Wings on Sunday.

The Inform University of Nairobi ‘Dynamites’play Strathmore University Swords in what is expected to be a fiercely contested match-up.

UoN are confident after hitting Lady Bucks 64-40 and Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology 42-38 last week.

After suffering two huge losses, Strathmore University Blades will line up against Zetech University Titans in a game they remain favourite. Blades have their backs to the wall after suffering humiliating 72-45 and 71-43 defeats at the hands of Equity Bank Dumas and ANU respectively.

Coach Tony Ochieng said the defeats are now behind them and he is convinced they will rise to the occasion.

“The boys are ready for the game and our last outings are behind our backs. I believe we shall sharpen the offense through our set plays.”
