Kibera revive promotion hopes with win over Murang'a

Africa-Press – Kenya. Former women’s Premier League side Kibera Soccer Ladies registered their eighth win of the season against Murang’a Queens following their 7-0 victory in the Division One zone ‘A’ match on Saturday.

Kibera top zone ‘A’ with 26 points after 11 matches and are on course for promotion should the team maintain their performance. Murang’a on the other hand, remain bottom of the 16-team league with a meager minus six points.

Mombasa Olympic team that boasts of the meanest defence in the division after conceding just four goals thus far, edged out Falling Waters 2-1 to put themselves firmly in the race for a playoffs slot.

Uweza Women systematically beat Makolanders 3-0 while Coastal Starlets lost 1-0 to Fortune Ladies. In Zone B, Vihiga Leeds managed a 2-2 all draw against Gene Queens. Eldoret Falcons’ promotion hopes suffered a blow as they fell 1-0 to high-flying Bungoma Queens.

Falcons, who were in WPL three seasons ago, would have moved to second position with victory but the result means Bungoma Queens maintain second position with 26 points.
