Africa-Press – Kenya. Former Nairobi governor Evans Kidero wants Homa Bay residents to embrace the leadership of President William Ruto for smooth implementation of development projects.
Kidero said Ruto requires the goodwill and support of the people in order to effectively deliver on his development agenda. He spoke on Sunday during a fundraiser at Rodi Kopany Catholic Church in Homa Bay Town Constituency.
The Kenya Kwanza government has pledged to undertake some development projects in Homa Bay. The projects include the construction of 400 affordable house units, construction of Adiedo-Karabok road, Mbita-Magunga-Sori road and tapping on the blue economy from Lake Victoria.
Kidero said the projects are important for residents of Homa Bay and they need to support the government to deliver them. He said the country has started healing from the last election hence there is only need to engage in matters aimed at accelerating development.
“Everybody wants growth and development. I appeal to Homa Bay people to foster good will to ensure all the development plans by the state are delivered,” Kidero said.
The former governor lauded the high level of resilience among the residents after the general election. He challenged leaders to rise above individual and tribal interests to unite Kenyans under President Ruto.
Through this, he said Kenyans will understand their role as citizens and participate freely in nation building. “Presidential election is now behind us. We must all join hands as Kenyans and be part and parcel of the ongoing progress,” Kidero said.
He said the President has good plans for the country and only progressive ideas are required to augment his efforts. President Ruto toured Homa Bay in his first visit of Nyanza region after being sworn in.
Most Homa Bay residents however, voted for Azimio –One Kenya leader Raila Odinga in the last poll. Kidero was accompanied by communications expert Jack Nduri, businessman Ken Kabasa, former Homa Bay Central MCAs Julius Nyambok, Mary Ouma and councilor Peter Adede.
