Africa-Press – Kenya. Residents of Tongeri in Bokimonge and Bombaba wards in Bomachoge Borabu constituency in Kisii County have welcomed the move by the County and National government to put up County Aggregation and Industrial Park (CAIP) in the area.

The residents said the establishment of the CAIP will improve the living standards of the remote area besides creating employment opportunities for the youth.

On Friday, officers from the Department of Public Participation and Stakeholders Management in the Kisii County government conducted an intensive public participation in the area and the locals unanimously agreed to fully support the construction of the park owing to the numerous development projects it is bringing about.

As part of Community Social Responsibilities (CSR) roads in the area will be developed, there will be piped water, modern schools will be built, and there will be an enhanced electricity supply among other developments.

Trade executive Cyrus Nyabicha said the area will be transformed completely adding that the local people will be given a priority in employment opportunities.

“Aggregation and industrial parks is one of the most sustainable efforts by the national and county governments to shape Kenya’s economy by targeting specific inclusive economic activities. I commend Governor Simba Arati for delivering this much-needed project in this area by working closely with the national Government,” the CEC said.

Cabinet Secretary (CS) for Investments, Trade and Industry Moses Kuria is set to officiate the groundbreaking ceremony for the Park next week on Wednesday.

A resident Charles Ondara said it is a big relief as the community that has been ignored for decades will enjoy the benefits that come with its establishment.

“Our youths who have been going to other towns for such jobs have something to smile about. I thank President William Ruto and Governor Simba for bringing such development in this area,” Ondara said.
