Kuria says Thika are seeking Super Cup slot

Africa-Press – Kenya. Thika captain Robert Kuria said the team is working hard to secure a slot in the Super Cup.

Speaking after they blanked Spartan 26-21 in a tight Kenya Handball Federation league clash, he said they are working hard towards that goal.

The top six teams in the KHF league qualify for Super Cup with the finalists getting a chance to represent the country in a continental event. The win pushed Thika to the eighth position in the 19-team table.

“The match was good and we enjoyed ourselves. We are working hard to have a slot at the Super Cup. This win has contributed towards that,” said Kuria.

He added: “Our attack was good. We did convert our attacks to goals and defence as well was good.”

However, he said they will have to work hard on the D to minimize the chances of their opponents scoring against them.

The winners got off to a right start, leading 13-4 at halftime. Bonaventure Kariuki scored five goals and Cliffy Odoyo four. The losers who performed better in the second half had six from Robert Guyo, five from Mukiyi Samson and four from Ferdinand Ikomol.
