The Ministry of Defence in Kenya has announced 45 job vacancies for civilian positions within the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF). Africa-Press – Kenya. The Ministry of Defence has announced vacancies for 45 civilian staff positions within the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF), opening up permanent and pensionable employment opportunities for qualified Kenyans.

In a public notice, the ministry invited interested applicants to apply for the posts using the Public Service Commission application form PSC 2 (Revised 2016), which can be downloaded from the Public Service Commission website.

Completed application forms, together with copies of relevant academic and professional certificates, should be submitted to the Office of the Principal Secretary, Ministry of Defence, P.O. Box 40668–00100, Nairobi, or hand-delivered to Ulinzi House gate off Lenana Road.

The deadline for applications is January 20, 2026.

The largest number of vacancies is for the position of Garden Assistant III (CSG 15), with 30 posts available under Advert No. 1/2025.

Successful candidates will earn a basic salary ranging from KSh 19,340 to Sh 24,470 per month, in addition to house allowance depending on area of deployment, a commuter allowance of Sh 3,000 per month, and a leave allowance of Sh 4,000 paid once annually.

The posts are offered on permanent and pensionable terms.

According to the ministry, Garden Assistants at this level will serve as trainees and will be responsible for maintaining lawns, gardens, flowerbeds and other landscaped areas.

They may also be deployed to undertake various gardening-related duties within Ministry of Defence units, as well as at State House and government lodges.

Applicants must possess a Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) with a mean grade of D+ (Plus) or an equivalent qualification.

The Ministry has also advertised 15 vacancies for Support Staff/Sanitary Cleaners (CSG 16) under Advert No. 2/2025.

The positions attract a basic monthly salary of between Sh 18,250 and Sh 22,720, alongside house allowance depending on deployment area, a Sh 3,000 commuter allowance, and a once-yearly leave allowance of Sh 4,000.

These roles are similarly offered on permanent and pensionable terms.

Support Staff will undertake sanitary cleaning duties, perform messengerial tasks and carry out other related responsibilities as assigned.

This is an entry-level position, and applicants are required to have a KCSE mean grade of D (Plain) or its equivalent, as well as a certificate in computer application skills from a recognized institution.

The Ministry cautioned applicants against canvassing, noting that any form of canvassing will result in automatic disqualification.

It also emphasised that the recruitment process will be inclusive, encouraging qualified persons to apply regardless of gender, age, race, culture, religion, marital status or disability.
