Africa-Press – Kenya. Bungoma-based Rangers men and women teams posted mixed results in the Kenya Handball Federation (KHF) league matches at Nyayo Stadium.
In the men’s category, Rangers blanked the University of Eldoret (UOE) “Pippers” 45-26 after a 22-14 lead at half-time.
Frank Kavito scored 11 goals and Allan Kabusia added seven for the winners while Nehemiah Kipkosgei notched six and Justus Maraga five for the Eldoret side.
Rangers also defeated Nairobi City County (NCC) 51-21 but suffered a 35-20 loss at the hands of the General Service Unit (GSU). The “Pippers” on the other hand, went down 38-28 to Boomerang but recovered to beat Inspired 40-37.
Buccaneers whipped Boomerang 47-27 behind 17 goals from Radri Stower and eight from Randy Ochieng.
Boomerang draw cost Buccaneers the Super Cup last season and they didn’t want to take any chances this time.
The losers, who trailed 20-13 at the breather, had six from George Odero and four from Josephat Oigo.
In the women’s cadre, last year’s runners-up, Ulinzi Sharks beat Rangers 38-30 after a 17-14 halftime cushion. Marjorie Okwakau nailed nine goals and Caren Lutengeya added eight.
Rangers had 10 goals from Martha Munyakho and five from Leah Nyongesa as they beat Kenyatta University 35-26. Celine Wabuke and Doris Odende scored nine and seven goals respectively for the KU students.
In their other games, Rangers thrashed Rising Star 46-15 and also clobbered Daystar University 49-11.
