Africa-Press – Kenya. Moi University side, Arsonists take on Cooperative University in a must-win last pool match in the ongoing Varsity 15’s league on Saturday at the Moi University Main Campus in Kesses.
Head coach Ali Mbara said they hope to capitalise on home advantage as they seek to finish among the top two teams to qualify for the quarterfinals.
Moi University are currently third in Pool ‘ D’ while Cooperative University are second.
Also chasing a quarter-final slot are leaders Kisii University, who play Multimedia University (MMU).
Ali Mbaraka is optimistic the hosts Moi University will take home advantage and win in their last match to secure a place in the top eight.
“There is no room to make any blunder in this game. This is a must-win match and we have no choice but to make the right decisions.
Kisii leads Pool D with 10 points while Cooperative and Moi University are tied on five points. MMU trail with zero points.
Arsonists missed the opening round of the fixtures after failing to travel to Maseno, where they were expected to play Multi-Media University.
In other matches of the day, Pool ‘C’ leaders Technical University of Mombasa (TUM) play Meru University while second-placed University of Nairobi side, Mean machine battle against bottom-placed Kabarak University.
University of Eldoret (UOE) have completed their matches and lead Pool ‘A’ with 12 points ahead of Dedan Kimathi University of Technology.
Egerton University side, Wasps lead Pool B ahead of Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT).
