Moses Kuria Comes Clean On Striking Deal With Raila

Africa-Press – Kenya. Gatundu South MP, Moses Kuria, has responded to claims that he recently struck a deal with Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga.

Reports alleged that the Chama Cha Kazi (CCK) leader, who is undergoing treatment in Dubai, had reached a working agreement with the former Prime Minister.

It was further claimed that the details of the deal would be made public on Saturday, February 19 at Thika Stadium. The date was reportedly selected to coincide with Kuria’s thanksgiving ceremony.

In a rejoinder, the MP refuted the claims he alleged were propagated by supporters of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party linked to Deputy President William Ruto.

“You have enough people left in UDA. Focus on retaining them. Do not stress too much on the only one (Kuria) who has left,” he responded, in a statement posted on his social media pages.

Kuria unveiled Chama Cha Kazi (CCK) in July 2021 after being kicked out of the People’s Empowerment Party (PEP).

On July 22, 2021, PEP Chairman Watson Simiyu revealed that the party differed with Kuria over undisclosed fundamental aspects. Simiyu explained that the issues surfaced after the Juja and Gaturi by-elections won by UDA and PEP respectively.

Pundits expected to join the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) but he resorted to registering his own party.

Kuria explained that he declined to join UDA after Ruto’s directed politicians joining his party to fold theirs. He, nonetheless, revealed that he would drum up support for the DP.

“William Ruto is my friend, we have suffered together. Do you know I was removed as Vice Chair of the National Assembly’s Transport committee because of my association with Ruto?

“People who work with Ruto have been seen as opposition for a very long time. Do you know that I was also removed as a member of the Budget and Appropriations committee? Why? Because I am a friend of DP Ruto,” Kuria stated in an interview in November 2021.

He further endorsed former Justice Minister, Martha Karua, as a suitable running mate for any Presidential aspirant who would court the Mt Kenya region.

Kuria will not defend his seat in 2022 nor vie for any other position. He affirmed that he would solely focus on building his Chama Cha Kazi party in the Mt Kenya region.

“Presidential candidates should treat Mt Kenya with the seriousness it deserves because it will not be business as usual going forward.

” For now, I am focused on helping people win elections,” Kuria said.
