Africa-Press – Kenya. Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has said he will actively mobilise support in Western Kenya for President William Ruto’s 2027 re-election bid.
Mudavadi said Western Kenya will continue positioning itself within the ruling UDA party under the broad-based government and has called for unity of purpose ahead of the 2027 polls.
“We want a resounding victory for President Ruto. A victory that cannot be disputed, one that speaks once, speaks loud and clear,” said Mudavadi.
“Nawasihi kwamba ikifika 2027 tunataka zile kura mheshimiwa Rais atapata kwa debe, hata yule anafikiria ataenda kortini akome na ajifiche.”
Mudavadi, who has recently affirmed his position within the United Democratic Alliance (UDA), said Western Kenya continues to benefit from the development being spearheaded by President Ruto, and this is why he is urging the Western Kenya region to align with the ruling party early. According to him, UDA is the only party with a national presence and easier access to power in the 2027 general election.
“I urge the people of this region to register as voters. If you have a National Identification Card, go and register. We want to shame those who are traversing our region, selling false promises and having no agenda for the future of our people,” he said.
Mudavadi was speaking in Mbale town, where he had accompanied President Ruto at the laying of the foundation stone for the construction of Mbale County Strategic Market in Vihiga County.
He assured the President of the full support of the people of Vihiga County, urging them to stay focused and steadfast and ensure Ruto gets his second term come August 2027.
“I want to thank the people of Vihiga for helping us form this government in 2022 when you voted for President Ruto and the Kenya Kwanza team. We should now stand firm because we know where the government is taking us and who will form the next government. Tuache mambo ya kando kando na kurukaruka,” Mudavadi emphasised.
“In 2022, I was here. I gave you the direction. Those who didn’t believe were shocked by the reality that Ruto won. I am coming again to ask you, let us walk together, Ruto will be in 2027, and we must be part of the victory.”
Mudavadi told the residents of Vihiga and Western Kenya.
Mudavadi is on record as having said that should President William Ruto complete his second term in office in 2032, he would seek to succeed him.
He has previously said that fully embracing UDA would give him and the region easier access to the Rift Valley, where the party enjoys strong support, as well as other parts of the country.
This, he noted, is necessary for anyone seeking to build national support for a presidential bid.
The political landscape in Kenya has been shaped by various alliances and party dynamics, especially leading up to elections. The United Democratic Alliance (UDA), under President William Ruto, has positioned itself as a key player in the 2027 elections, seeking to consolidate support from various regions, including Western Kenya. Musalia Mudavadi’s role as Prime Cabinet Secretary places him in a strategic position to influence voter sentiment and party loyalty in this critical region.
Historically, Western Kenya has been a significant voting bloc, often swaying election outcomes. Mudavadi’s call for unity and voter registration reflects a broader strategy to ensure that the region remains,
