Africa-Press – Kenya. Mumia residents have had an early Christmas as their Member of Parliament Peter Salasya gave them foodstuffs ahead of Christmas celebrations. His compound was full in the morning hours as people walked in numbers to benefit from the MP’s kind gesture.
Salasya said his budget was Sh3,000,000 and was targeting 10,000 people. “I didn’t use a lot to campaign and so I lose nothing by giving them. Merry Christmas to all Kenyans, and if you have give somebody to feel happy too like you. Murio muno banabefu,” he said.
“It’s morning but the whole of my compound is full. I will try to manage this but one day Kenya will overcome poverty.” On Thursday night, he was helped by young men to pack the items to make them easy to distribute.
“My boys will not sleep tonight it’s packing. We target 10,000 people, so 10,000 uhuru bags must be packed with necessary items. One day Kenya shall be a rich country,” he said.
“When you are a loved person and a good leader who is trusted you can manage this crowd or else it can be a mess. I am a happy person this Christmas to make this day successful.” The MP said he will do everything within his power to help the poor and raise their standards.
“They are happy with my little sacrifices. I will work towards improving their livelihood through uwezo fund and women’s fund. The cost of living in Kenya is so high. People of Mumias West, Mumias East, Navakholo ,Lurambi and Matungu came.”
One of the residents said she was happy for the good act as some of them did not have anything for the festive season. ” We are very happy that he is doing this for us. He is truly a Kenyan,” one woman said.
