Africa-Press – Kenya. Muthaiga, Sigona and Nyali Golf Club are still in the lead in respective categories of the 2022 inaugural Patron’s Cup which entered its second day at Muthaiga Golf Club.
Muthiaga garnered 18 points in round 1 and 12 points in round 2 to win the Trophy category while Sigona had 21 points round 1 and 9 round 2 to win the Shield category.
Nyali had 30 points in round 1 and 9 points in round 2 to win the Plaque category while Golf Park had 12 points in round 1 and 12 points in round 2 to win the Bowl category.
The teams played four ball better ball in the morning and faced off in foursomes format in the afternoon.
The event, which is in commemoration of the late President Mwai Kibaki who was also the Kenya Golf Union Patron, attracted 13 clubs each comprising of 12 players.
The final round of the event will be played tomorrow where the players will play against each other in the singles.
Speaking from the venue, Philip Ochola, the Kenya Golf Union vice chairman noted that the players are playing under the rules of golf as set by the R&A and referees have been deployed to ensure the rules are followed to the letter.
