Natembeya Promises Stronger Opposition for 2026

Africa-Press – Kenya. Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya has penned a hopeful new year message saying 2026 will see a stronger and united opposition as the country heads to 2027 general elections.

Natembeya said all the opposition leaders had resolved to remain united and focused so as to liberate the country from bad leadership.

“What keeps us united and focused is the serious problems Kenyans are going through and the belief that if we remain together, then we will give Kenyans the kind of government they deserve,” Natembeya said.

He claimed the country was going through its darkest period, but the future was brigher urging that Kenyans should not give up or surrender in the fight for good governance that would ensure equality and justice for everyone.

Natembeya claimed that those who enjoy good lives thriving on public resources were now abusing other leaders and scheming to force everyone to join a regime that had failed the country.

“They are abusing other leaders, but we have refused to join them because we believe that the needs of Kenyans require the country to have alternative opinions so that we change this country for the better,” Natembeya said.

He said 2026 would lay the foundation of what would happen in2027 and wished Kenyans good health and wisdom that would enable them to elect good leaders for the sake of the future generations.

Natembeya called on residents of Trans Nzoia and the larger western region to remain united and peaceful.

He said the calls for unity within communities were in order because such unity leads to a stronger and more cohesive nation.

“Tribalists are those who believe in favouring their communities.

Its those who oppose unity within communities that are tribalists because they practice favouritism through which they deny other Kenyans access to national resources like jobs and use the same for their own benefit,” he said.

Natembeya said Kenyans must love each other and unite in the fight to remove bad leaders so that the country can unlock its potential.

The outspoken governor said Kenyans have freedoms for which the forefathers shed blood to achieve, and that the current leaders who believe the same would not give up on talking out and fighting evil in society.

He called on those in leadership to respect and implement the 2010 Constitution.

“We have a good constitution, but they don’t believe in it, and Kenyans deserve leaders who would respect the supreme laws that govern our nation,” he said.

On Trans Nzoia matters, Natembeya said his administration had worked with the people of Trans Nzoia to correct the mess caused by the previous regimes.

“We are now out of that bad situation, and I thank the residents of Trans Nzoia for giving me the chance to serve them.

I will continue to work hard, and I know 2026 promises to be a more fruitful year for us,” Natembeya said.

Natembeya said the fight for equality and justice is not easy because some leaders and Kenyans were risking their lives for a better country.

He said that despite the many challenges he had gone through in 2025, he would continue to fight and work to better the lives of residents of Trans Nzoia with God’s guidance.

Natembeya said leaders from other regions who camp in Trans Nzoia to undermine him should focus on helping Kenyans in their counties who equally face serious challenges.

“Life has been quite challenging, but we have to thank God for the mercies and blessings he continues to give us.

I wish the people of Trans Nzoia and all Kenyans a happy 2026 full of blessings,” Natembeya said.
