Africa-Press – Kenya. Oburu Oginga, leader of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), has challenged party renegades to leave the party and join formations where they feel comfortable.

Addressing a political rally in Siaya town, Oburu, flanked by top party officials including three cabinet secretaries, stated that ODM will not expel anyone but emphasized that those feeling uncomfortable were free to exit on their own volition.

“We are not expelling anybody from the party, but anyone who feels uncomfortable with us can leave,” he said, noting that the party is entering negotiations with the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) ahead of the next general elections.

Oburu added that discussions with UDA would focus on policies, development programs, and power-sharing arrangements. “There is no political party in this world that is formed to be in the opposition. We have been in the opposition for a long time,” he said.

Ali Hassan Joho and ODM party chairperson Gladys Wanga affirmed that the party will be part of the next government.

Wanga highlighted ODM’s commitment to implementing the 10-point agenda, including compensation for post-election violence victims and empowerment of youth and women.

National Assembly Minority Leader Junet Mohammed said ODM would not succumb to intimidation from any quarter. Cabinet secretaries Opiyo Wandayi and John Mbadi reiterated that the Oburu-led faction is the legitimate ODM leadership.

Other speakers included legislators Samuel Atandi (Alego/Usonga) and Elisha Odhiambo (Gem), as well as Busia Governor Paul Otuoma.
