Africa-Press – Kenya. Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has expressed confidence that the broad-based government will secure another term in 2027, pointing to major development projects and programmes that have strengthened its nationwide support.
Speaking on Friday at the Resource Mobilisation Event for micro and small trader groups in Suba South Constituency, Homa Bay County, the DP dismissed claims of one-term politics as theoretical and unlikely to succeed.
“This broad-based government has brought real and tangible benefits to all the people across the country. No one should issue threats about one-term politics. One-term is theory; broad-based is practice and serving all Kenyans,” he said.
Kindiki highlighted the inclusive nature of the government, emphasising that equitable development reaches all regions and communities.
“Broad-based does not exclude anyone. This government is not about one against the other. All of us can have a place in a broad-based administration because there is enough for all the people of Kenya and all communities to have a stake in the government of the Republic of Kenya,” he stated.
The DP also inspected the construction of the Nyandiwa Fish Landing Site, a 150 million-shilling project that will provide fisherfolk with access to fish coolers and modern facilities once completed. The initiative forms part of a broader government plan to develop multiple landing sites along Lake Victoria.
He commended ODM leaders in the region for resisting efforts to distance the party from the government, noting they were honouring the legacy of the late party leader Raila Odinga.
“This time, the people of Nyanza and members of ODM have said they are tired of opposition politics. The work of opposition has been done by ODM and the people of Nyanza for a long time, and now they are part of the government and will be inside this government to ensure they benefit from development like other Kenyans,” the DP said.
Several government-funded projects are ongoing in Homa Bay County, including the 3.3 billion-shilling Mfangano Island Ring Road, which is steadily progressing under the direction of President William Ruto.
The recently completed 350 million-shilling Homa Bay Town Fish Market has also been handed over, with 22 modern markets planned across the county.
Kindiki pointed to ongoing affordable housing projects, expanded electricity connections, and youth empowerment programmes as evidence of the government’s development agenda.
He praised National Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi, a native of Suba South, for ensuring the timely release of funds.
“When you hear about all this development—roads, electricity, markets, and fish markets—the person managing and signing for Kenya’s funds is a son of Suba South, a son of Homa Bay, John Mbadi,” he said.
