PS: Security Intensified Ahead of Devolution Conference

Africa-Press – Kenya. Security operations have been intensified across the Nyanza region ahead of the 9th Devolution Conference, set to begin Wednesday in Homa Bay town.

Interior PS Dr. Raymond Omollo said security teams at both county and regional levels have completed mapping out all strategic areas to ensure proper coordination during the high-profile event.

PS Omollo noted that all security units are on high alert, not only in Homa Bay town but also in neighboring counties that share borders with Homa Bay.

He assured delegates that their safety will be fully guaranteed throughout their stay.

“The security plan extends beyond Homa Bay to other towns in the region, including Kisumu, Kisii, and Migori, where many delegates are expected to lodge,” he said.

Addressing the media during an inspection of the conference venue, the PS also assured that seamless logistical arrangements have been put in place to ensure the event runs smoothly and successfully.

“All satellite towns within Homa Bay County have also been adequately secured to accommodate the anticipated influx of visitors,” he added.

PS Omollo emphasized the importance of the Devolution Conference in advancing Kenya’s governance framework and deepening the devolved system of government.

“This event is not only a platform for policy dialogue but also a significant economic boost for Homa Bay, as it brings together leaders, investors, and visitors from across the country,” he said.

Coming barely two months after Homa Bay successfully hosted the national Madaraka Day celebrations, Dr. Omollo urged local entrepreneurs to seize the opportunities presented by such gatherings.

President William Ruto, who arrived in Homa Bay on Tuesday evening, is expected to officially open the three-day conference at Homa Bay School on Wednesday.

At the State Lodge in Homa Bay, the president hosted grassroots women leaders from Siaya, Homa Bay, Migori, and Kisumu counties.

He highlighted the government’s commitment to investing in the economic empowerment of women to help them realize their full potential and drive the country’s sustainable development.
