Africa-Press – Kenya. Azimio Presidential candidate Raila Odinga on Thursday met with the US visiting Senator Chris Coons.
He was accompanied by his running mate Martha Karua and other leaders allied to Azimio.
The meeting came after Chris had met with President-elect William Ruto and President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Raila reiterated their commitment to pursuing legal means to resolve issues around the presidential election results.
“We held candid discussions on developments around our general election and bilateral relations with the Congressional delegation of the US Senate and House of Representatives,” he said.
Uhuru during his meeting said Kenya will remain steadfast in entrenching the principles of good governance.
He said he is committed to ensuring that Kenya upholds its position as a shining example of democracy on the continent.
“My greatest desire is that peace will prevail and we may set an example in the continent and the world,” Uhuru said.
Senator Coons, who is leading a congressional delegation of US Senate and House Representatives, commended President Kenyatta for ensuring peace and stability prevailed during the election period.
Ruto on the other hand said the talks touched on the just concluded elections in the country and areas of cooperation between Kenya and the United States.
Ruto met with the visitors at the Karen Office, Nairobi County.
“We commit to deepen relations and further partnership for the mutual benefit of the citizens of the two countries,” he said.
