Africa-PressKenya. Suspected robbers were on Thursday, June 17, lynched by irate members of the public after they abducted a 60-year-old woman at Mua Hills, in Machakos County.

The suspects, Jackson Mulinge Mueke and Augustus Nzioka Ndeto, were part of a three-man gang that had trailed Veronica Kwanza Kiilu, from a bank in Machakos town.

Kiilu was in the accompany of her husband Wellington Kioko at a bank in Machakos town where they withdrew half a million shillings.

“From the sum, Sh150,000 was used to pay a lawyer based in Machakos town, for an unspecified assignment,” reads a statement by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).

Kiilu would then leave her husband in Machakos Town and proceed to board a matatu while carrying the remaining Ksh350,000.

After the matatu alighted at Kaloleni, she boarded a motorcycle and after a 200-metre ride, they were intercepted by a fast moving car, a white Toyota Axio.

“Two men jumped out of the car and grabbed the 60-year-old woman from the motorbike. They bundled her into the back seat of the gateway car and sped off, towards Muthwani shopping centre.”

Kiilu was robbed of the Ksh350,000 before she was abandoned at an unknown location.

Members of the public got wind of what had happened and rushed to intercept the gang.

Boda boda riders pounced on them and ejected them from their vehicle after which they were beaten mercilessly.

“Two of the suspects died in a hail of stones, blows and kicks, while the third suspect managed to escape the onslaught by a whisker.”

Some of the belongings that were recovered include; a walkie talkie and three mobile phones and an ID card from the suspect who escaped.
