Africa-Press – Kenya. President William Ruto has said the country is firmly on the right trajectory, pointing to improved economic stability, reforms in education and health, and accelerated infrastructure development as key achievements of his administration in its first three years in office.

He said the implementation of the party’s manifesto had reached 80 per cent, arguing that his government had delivered on most of the promises made to Kenyans during the 2022 election campaign.

Ruto noted that his administration had initially spent considerable time stabilising the economy and correcting what he described as deep-rooted challenges inherited upon assuming office.

“We have been faithful to the implementation of the agenda upon which the people of Kenya voted for this administration, and we are ready to face our competitors with our scorecard and ask them what they can do better than what we have done,” he said.

Ruto was speaking at State House during the National Governing Council meeting.

He dismissed criticism circulating on social media, saying it was based on misinformation rather than facts.

“Professor (Deputy Party Leader) Kithure Kindiki has explained very well the implementation of our manifesto. Some people are spreading lies and propaganda, but today we are showing our scorecard, and it clearly demonstrates that we are delivering on our promises,” the President added.

On the economy and agriculture, Ruto said the country was better positioned than in previous years, with interventions in the fertiliser subsidy programme significantly boosting agricultural production.

He announced that eight million bags of fertiliser were ready for distribution ahead of the long rains, allowing farmers to begin planting on time.

Last year, he said, 10.1 million bags were utilised, with projections rising to 12.5 million bags this year.

He added that three million bags were already stocked at the National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB), while another three million had been dispatched from the Port of Mombasa.

Highlighting gains in the livestock sector, the President said the cost of sexed semen had dropped sharply from Sh8,000 to Sh1,400, contributing to increased milk production.

“Kenya is now among the top milk-producing countries in Africa. Milk production has risen from 4.6 billion litres to 5.2 billion litres, making Kenya the largest milk producer on the continent,” he said.

On education, Ruto said the government had rescued 21 public universities that were on the brink of collapse and stabilised the rollout of the Competency-Based Education (CBE) programme.

He also said the teacher shortage had been addressed through the hiring of the largest number of teachers since independence over the past three years, adding that reforms were equally transforming Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions.

Infrastructure development, the President said, remains central to his administration’s economic agenda.

He revealed that the government had raised Sh175 billion and was mobilising an additional Sh120 billion to ensure continuity of projects, including the completion of 6,000 kilometres of roads currently under construction.

He cited the Mau Mau Road as one of the flagship projects, noting it was between 50 and 70 per cent complete.

The President also acknowledged Githunguri MP Gathoni Wamuchomba, a known ally of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, who attended the UDA meeting and publicly declared her support for his second-term bid, saying ongoing road projects across the country were nearing completion.
