Ruto attends 19th Non-Aligned Movement Summit in Uganda

Africa-Press – Kenya. President William Ruto on Friday joined other heads of State and Government for the 19th Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) Summit at Speke Munyonyo Resort in Kampala, Uganda.

The summit seeks to address crucial global issues, including multilateralism, international peace and post-COVID-19 recovery strategies.

The Non-Aligned Movement was established in 1961 and has 120 member States, 18 observer countries and 10 observer organisations.

South Sudan to be admitted today as the 121st member of the group.

At the opening session of the summit, President Yoweri Museveni was elected unanimously as the chairman of NAM for the next three years. Uganda took over the chairmanship from Azerbaijan.
