Africa-Press – Kenya. President William Ruto has bought a fish for Sh10,000 from a market trader.

The President bought the fish during the launch of the Hustler Fund at Green Park in Nairobi.

The trader, Susal Okol, who was making a presentation at the launch said the growth of her business has been hindered by the lack of a deep freezer.

The woman said she was looking forward to getting a loan from the fund to buy the freezer.

“Nimefurahi ata kuongea imenishinda, sijawahi kaa mahali kama hapa. Nilikua natamani kuona president wangu kwa macho, nimewaona leo na macho [I am so happy, I have never sat in such a room, I was looking forward to meeting my President,” she said.

The woman received another shot in the arm when Cabinet Secretaries Eliud Owalo and Aisha Jumwa gave her Sh20,000 and 10,000 respectively.

During campaigns, Ruto promised to help ordinary Kenyans have easy access to affordable credit for their businesses.

Objectives of the fund include creating jobs, strengthening the economy and empowering investors both domestically and internationally.
