Africa-Press – Kenya. Narc Kenya leader Martha Karua has accused Kenya Kwanza of forcefully trying to take over Azimio by using its affiliate parties. Speaking on Wednesday, Karua said the move to take over Jubilee is an expression of bad faith.
“Kenya Kwanza is trying to forcefully take over an affiliate party of Azimio using rebel members of Jubilee party at a time they are lying to Kenyans that they have good faith in whatever negotiations were to be between Kenya Kwanza and Azimio.
She added that it is a direct attack on Muilti-partism and a declaration of war on Azimio. “I do not think anyone serious would discuss with somebody who desecrates their foundation. One of the rules in talks is that you do not violate but respect each other,” she said.
Karua said it is a clear indication that President William Ruto’s led Kenya Kwanza is not interested in bona fide negotiations. She added that Azimio will stand by Jubilee and will do everything in its power to stop any takeover.
The leader spoke shortly after wrangles were witnessed at the Jubilee headquarters. The wrangles saw supporters of acting secretary general Kanini Kega and suspended secretary general Jeremiah Kioni clash.
The supporters were seen pelting stones at the Jubilee office headquarters in Kileleshwa. Police teargas to disperse the supporters of Kioni and Kega.
Both Kega and Kioni have laid claim to the throne as Jubilee’s bonafide secretary general. Former President Uhuru Kenyatta made an appearance at the Jubilee party offices after wrangles were witnessed early Wednesday.
Uhuru, the de facto Jubilee leader, said the party will solve its issues internally and doesn’t need to be pushed by police. “We have our mechanisms as a political party with which to solve our problems and we shall solve and we shall have our meetings and the party’s membership will decide the party’s future,” he said.
