Africa-Press – Kenya. President William Ruto and his deputy, Kithure Kindiki, on Wednesday hosted over 10,000 aspirants who have expressed an interest in vying for various elective seats in 2027 on the UDA ticket.

The inaugural UDA Party Aspirants Forum was held at State House, Nairobi. Only aspirants who received a direct invitation from the party were allowed to attend the highly publicised forum.

Ruto has said no political party in Kenya’s history has ever attracted the number of aspirants seeking tickets under his party, describing the surge as a clear signal of its growing national appeal and political dominance.

According to Ruto, the high turnout reflects both the party’s national reach and the intense competition expected during the primaries. He suggested that many aspirants believe the party is best positioned to form the next government.

UDA has said the registration of aspirants remains ongoing and will continue until the statutory deadline of 90 days before the general election date, in line with electoral laws.

Party officials say the registration exercise was deliberately opened early to allow sufficient time for vetting, dispute resolution and preparation ahead of the primaries.
