President William Ruto on Tuesday met Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in New York, US.
Through a statement, the head of state said Zelenskyy noted that Ukraine is committed to establishing a grain hub in the Port of Mombasa to address food shortage in East Africa.
“Kenya advocates for a peaceful resolution of the Russia-Ukraine conflict to restore stability, alleviate the suffering of the people, and stop the destruction of property,” Ruto said.
On his part, Zelenskyy the two leaders discussed further work on the Peace Formula and the preparations for the Global Peace Summit, noting that Ukraine values Kenya’s support
“I stressed the importance of Ukraine’s continued food exports to the region,” Zelenskyy said
Ruto also congratulated Zelenskyy for showing resilience and being strong as the country was facing invasion.
“We know it has been difficult for the people of Ukraine, stay strong and you have our support. We believe in world order,” Ruto said.
“We believe the resolution of the conflict is a priority for the world and essential to advancing the shared prosperity of all humanity.”
