Ruto mourns Jamia Mosque Imam Sheikh Muhammad

Africa-Press – Kenya. President William Ruto on Tuesday mourned Jamia Mosque Imam, Sheikh Muhammad Swalihu.

Sheikh Muhammad passed away on Tuesday morning.

“Condolences to the family, friends and the Jamia Mosque Faithful for the loss of Imam Sheikh Muhammad Swalihu. May Allah grant you comfort at this painful time. Rest In Peace,” he said.

The announcement was made through Jamia Mosque’s official Twitter account.

He passed on in Nairobi after serving as Imam at the Jamia Mosque for 27 years.

“Jamia Mosque Committee Nairobi regrets to inform you of the demise of Imam Sheikh Muhammad Swalihu this morning in Nairobi. Since 1995, Sheikh Swalihu has served as an Imam at the Masjid.”

Defence CS nominee Aden Duale described the Imam as a Muslim scholar of great repute and an elder, adding that the whole community will miss his religious counsel.

“He was a Muslim scholar of great repute and an elder. We will dearly miss his religious counsel and pieces of advice,” he said.

Inna Lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un following the death of Sheikh Mohammad Swahilu, the imam of Masjid Jamia – the largest Masjid in our country.
