Africa-Press – Kenya. President William Ruto has sent a message of condolence to the family, friends and relatives of advocate, Juma Kiplenge.

Kiplenge passed away on Friday, October 7, 2022.

In his message, Ruto said Kenya had lost a forthright lawyer, a great legal mind and a champion of the rights of minority communities.

“The late Kiplenge was a patriotic Kenyan who inspired many and worked hard to make Kenya a better nation,” Ruto said.

In an interview with a local media house, the family revealed that the lawyer passed away after a short illness.

“He got sick two weeks ago and unfortunately passed away on Friday, October 7,” his wife, Jedida Wairimu said.

Kiplenge was the defendant’s advocate in a land-grabbing case against former President Daniel Arap Moi.

In 2019, the lawyer led the family to appeal a High Court decision requiring Moi to pay Sh1 billion compensation to an Eldoret family for an alleged grabbing of their land.
