Africa-Press – Kenya. The government has announced new leadership changes and key administrative decisions in several state sectors. The announcements are contained in a series of Kenya Gazette notices dated December 19, 2025.

President William Ruto has re-appointed Faith Boinett as the Non-Executive Chairperson of the Board of Directors at the Kenya Pipeline Company Limited. Her term will run for three years, effective December 23, 2025. The appointment was made under section 6 (1) (a) of the State Corporations Act.

In the notice, President Ruto said: “I re-appoint Faith Boinett to be the Non-Executive Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Kenya Pipeline Company Limited for a period of three years.”

The renewal means Boinett will continue to lead the state corporation’s board. KPC plays a central role in the transportation and storage of petroleum products across Kenya. The government has recently emphasised reforms, efficiency and revenue protection in the sector.

In a separate Gazette notice, Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Migos Ogamba appointed Professor Clara Samiji Momanyi as the new Non-Executive Chairperson of the Kenyatta University Council.

Momanyi’s appointment takes effect from December 19, 2025. It will run for three years under section 36 (1) of the Universities Act. The notice also revoked the appointment of Dr Ben Chumo.

“In exercise of the powers conferred by section 36 (1) of the Universities Act, the Cabinet Secretary for Education appoints– Under paragraph (a)– Clara Samiji Momanyi (Prof.) to be the Non-Executive Chairperson of the Council of the Kenyatta University, for a period of three (3) years, with effect from the 19th December, 2025. The *appointment of Ben Chumo (Dr.) is revoked,” the notice reads.

The ministry has not explained the reason for the revocation. The government has also extended the declaration of parts of Marsabit County as security disturbed and dangerous.

Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen issued the extension. He invoked section 106 (6) of the National Police Service Act in consultation with the National Security Council.

The directive takes effect on December 23, 2025 at 6.30 pm. It will remain in force for 30 days. “This notice shall take effect on the 23rd December, 2025 for a period of thirty days and may, at any time, be withdrawn or continued in force,” Murkomen said.

The listed danger zones include several areas in Hillo. These are Hillo Gorgora, Hillo Orofa, Hillo Walkite, Hillo Tanzania, Hillo Irress Abamartille, Hillo Gootu, Hillo Tessum Qalicha, Hillo Karray, Hillo Hudda, Hillo Qoranjido, Hillo Irress Shindia,Hillo Rabaalee and Hillo Godde Haroressa.

The government has maintained security operations in the region due to recurrent banditry and inter-community conflict. The Ministry of Lands has also announced a fresh drive to secure Nairobi’s rivers.

Lands Cabinet Secretary Alice Wahome said a multi-agency team has been formed to demarcate and harmonise riparian reserves, wetlands and springs along river corridors in Nairobi.

The agencies include the Survey of Kenya, Nairobi City County Government and the Water Resources Authority. “The public is requested to co-operate with the multi-agency team,” Wahome noted.

The team may remove illegal structures, relocate persons living in flash-flood zones and prohibit incompatible land use in the protected areas. The ministry said it will observe due process and ensure public participation. The exercise begins on December 22, 2025.
