Africa-Press – Kenya. Deputy President William Ruto on Thursday continued his tour of Western region as he urged residents to back his presidential bid.

The DP started his Western region tour on Wednesday and is expected to end it today.

During his rallies in Luanda, Vihiga county, the DP said that if his administration gets to power in 2022, it will prioritise thousands of businesses being run by small-scale traders.

“In order to save these small-scale traders from paying interest of 20 per cent per day from the loans, the government will set aside Sh50 billion to help small-scale traders so that the ‘mama mbogas and boda boda riders can have access to the government’s money to boost their businesses,” Ruto said.

The DP indirectly hit out at ODM leader Raila Odinga, saying his opponents prioritised the creation of positions such as Prime Minister instead of helping SMEs.

He added that he will ensure that the Ministry of Agriculture is allocated enough money to ensure there is enough food in the country.

Ruto also used the opportunity to ask Musalia Mudavadi of ANC and Ford Kenya leader Moses Wetang’ula to consider working with him.

“Should Musalia Mudavadi and Moses Wetang’ula work with them or the hustler?

He added that the 2022 election will be decided by Kenyans and not through meetings held in hotels in Nairobi.

The DP’s remarks hint at an interest in working with Mudavadi and Wetang’ula who skipped Raila’s Azimio La Umoja Convention that was held at Kasarani Stadium on December 10.

They cited prior engagements.
