Africa-Press – Kenya. Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja made history on Thursday by hosting Kenya’s 60th Madaraka day celebration. The event which kicked off at 8 am took place at Joe Kadenge Stadium, formally known as City Stadium from 8 am.

Although the main event which was attended by President William Ruto was in Embu County, Sakaja presided over his first celebrations after being sworn in as Governor last year. Close to 1000 people graced the events from young to old, students, leaders among others.

Sakaja was accompanied by his Deputy Njoroge Muchiri, Senator Edwin Sifuna, Chief of Staff David Njoroge, County assembly speaker Ken Ngondi, Makadara MP George Aladwa, County executives, MCAs among other leaders.

The Governor arrived at the event in the official governors’s car which is a Rolls Royce. The navy blue Rolls Royce Austin is suited with curtains to cover the occupants and an extra seat that can be converted into a table.

It is an official car of Nairobi County, with the number plate NCC 1. The vehicle was bought in 1966 at Sh217,000 and is mainly used during special functions, like public holidays.
