SDT extends current term of KVF officials for three months

Africa-Press – Kenya. The term of the current Kenya Volleyball Federation office bearers has been extended for three more months, according to the ruling by the Sports Disputes Tribunal chairman John Ohaga.

The KVF was set for elections on April 29 but the matter was challenged in court as a section of the officials wanted the elections to be suspended for non-compliance. The claimants argued that only four counties had met the legal requirements to participate in the election of the National Executive Committee (NEC).

In a bid to fast-track the dispute filed by 14 members and officials of the committee running volleyball activities, Ohaga directed all the parties involved to file evidence by Wednesday to enable him give a fair decision during the ruling.

KVF had urged the tribunal to allow the elections to go on as planned to avoid far reaching repercussions from the international bodies. The ruling also said branch elections need to be held. Kenya Primary Schools Sports Association officials and their Secondary Schools counteparts have also been allowed to take part in the election.
